Sing Us A Song...

Clients always want their music to be reflective of the event being thrown.

Sometimes, they will leave the choices entirely up to the performer, to read the room as needed, take requests when desired, and provide just the right touch to fit the moment. And sometimes, they will have concrete ideas, either or songs or artists, that they KNOW they want to hear. Maybe it's a song that reminds them of someone/someplace special. Maybe it's their niece's favorite band. Maybe it's your first dance, and it just HAS to be that one special song you've been dreaming of.

However specific your wishlist is, don't be afraid to ask for what you want. It's your party. Hopefully, the performer you are hiring has a diverse enough range of music to cover all the ideas and choices you are requesting. But remember, no one knows EVERY song. Sometimes, a special request has to be learned just for your party. Again, don't be afraid to ask for it. A reputable piano entertainer, if given enough time, should be able to learn a request from within the genre they advertise (pop, jazz, classical, broadway, etc...)

A good rule of thumb we have found is to handle up to two such special requests per event for songs we don't already know. So, prioritize which songs are the most important for you. For the others, if the players don't have it, and aren't able to find the music for it, discuss alternate possibilties that are already within their repertoire that could serve your needs just as well.
