Rhythm is Gonna Get You...To Drum or Not To Drum

One of our corporate clients who recently booked us for a show asked about the difference between a strictly piano-based Dueling Pianos show, and one that also utilized a drummer. Since this is something we get asked about often, whether for weddings, private parties, corporate shows, or even our regular bar shows, we thought this would be a good topic for today.
Traditionally, dueling pianos is just that - two piano players interacting with, taking requests from, and performing for an audience. However, a growing trend in Dueling Pianos, especially in our NYC Dueling Pianos shows, is to add a drummer to the show, for the added OOMPH of the experience. Currently, all of our NYC-based bar shows have drummers, but outside the city, in smaller venues where seating space is a premium, the shows still stick to the traditional format. Check out our homepage for a video demo of our bar show, with a drummer.
While a third musician does increase the budget for an event, if filling the dance floor is a priority, or if you want the maximum energy from your crowd, then adding that element might be something to consider. If your wedding is in a larger space, if your backyard party is for more than the immediate family and friends, if your corporate event wants to be more rockin' than reserved, then thank about adding the drummer to your package.
If the budget is paramount, if the performing space is limited, or if the crowd or venue is smaller, then not to worry - you can always have a high-energy event without feeling like a drummer is necessary.
Keep those questions coming, and we can keep addressing your ideas in future posts!
