Positioning itself to join the ranks of Amazon Prime, ITunes Radio & Spotify, Youtube is apparently changing the way it features music on its site.
They are about to add a subscription-based element to their site, and many of the major record labels are on board. The remaining Indie holdouts are now running the risk of having their music pulled from the site, as YouTube owner Google is flexing its might in the negotiations.
The smaller labels claim they are getting less favorable terms than their larger brethren and are crying foul.
As the brinksmanship continues, and with the new platform launch looming on the horizon, many are fearing that many Indie artists will have their entire YouTube catalog deleted.
What will this spell for the smaller acts down the road? Stay tuned.
