Pharrell Williams -- Same Song Intro. Every Time. Signature or Sloth?

Pharrell Williams is arguably the hottest producer in pop right now. With the biggest song of 2013, BLURRED LINES; the second biggest song of 2013, GET LUCKY; and one of 2014's biggest, HAPPY, everything touched by he and his mountie hat seem to turn platinum.

But does that genius extend to the intros of his songs? It would seem that, going all the way back to his work with the Neptunes in 1993, his intros consist of looping the downbeat of the song and repeating it four times. Simple, yes. Effective, possibly. Overdone? You be the judge.

The geniuses over at Discopop have created a medley of over a dozen of his career-spanning tracks, which you can hear here. The real question is, is this Pharrell's "signature"? His own production version of peeing on the hydrant to mark his turf? Or is it just a lack of creativity in the service of getting to the hook faster...

Either way, be warned. Once you hear this, you will never listen to his stuff the same way again...
