One of the modern blues greats has passed away.
Johnny Winter, 70, built an almost fifty-year career of blues guitar playing that landed him at #63 on Rolling Stone's 100 all-time greatest guitar players. He also produced three Grammy-winning albums for another blues legend, and his childhood hero, Muddy Waters.
Proudly self-identifying as "not a rock-n-roller. I'm a Blues Man", he was one of a shrinking breed of blues guitar purists.
Winter has maintained an active touring schedule, and was reportedly touring in Switzerland at the time of his passing.
